Christy's September Hello Sailor Picks

9.05.2014

Hi Everyone!  It is First Fridays weekend here in Kansas City, which means I'm busy working at Hello Sailor: taking pictures, posting online, answering your fabulous questions!  There are SO many things I am in love with in store right now.  It may be my favorite month yet....I think that goes through my mind every month!  Lets start out with this brown leather sofa.  I mean, are you kidding me???!!!  This whole scene just makes me smile!  We have some very talented stylists in store!
So just when I fell in love with the leather sofa, I look up on the wall behind it and there is this incredible photo and Georgetown Pennant.  I don't even like Georgetown but I would hang this in my house!
So obviously sofas are sort of my thing this month.  I am on the lookout for a vintage yellow sofa, and although this one may be a bit too much of a throw back for me, it just wet my appetite even more! Also LOVING this N & R.  They are the steal of the month too at only $45 a piece.  I love the back story even more.  They came from an old Benjamin Ranch sign.
Some of you are laughing at this right now.  It's an old mechanic's light cover.  I know, you are thinking it looks like trash, but I will probably come home with this, and you will see it on one of my shelves...with a light inside, and then I hope you'll get it!
Industrial!  Love!  Btw, that's an old train toilet sitting front and center on the top of this piece.  That fact may make me like it even more :)
If I could get the lenses out of these and put my high dollar lenses in...I WOULD!
Someday Dane and I are going to own a working record player, and when we do, I want this mid-century record holder in our house.  What do I want even more...the Glenn Miller record sitting in this holder.  It has all my Glenn favorites, Stardust; Moonlight Serenade; Sing, Sing Sing.  Oh I think Glenn's going to have to sing me to sleep tonight!
This is a legit & sign.  Heavy duty and quite affordable.  If I can beat everyone to it, this is coming home with me!
And clocks.  I am a sucker for a good clock, and I think these are fabulous finds.

Speaking of time, it is time for me to get going.  If you want to see even more great items from Hello Sailor you can check out our facebook page!  Just click here, and don't forget to like us to keep up with any additional items we add in store!  Love y'all!

Things I Love: June Edition

6.27.2013

Stopping in today to share a few things I am loving this June.  While all of you in the United States are trying to cool down in the shade, here in Australia we are bundling up.  And that's why you see me dreaming of warm socks, boots, comfort food baking with that gorgeous wooden rolling pin, and a tiger sweat shirt.  Speaking of tiger shirts, they seem to be all the rage here in Australia, how about in the Northern Hemisphere?  All I know is, I want one!  Shout out to my Alma Mater "go tigers!"  And those "monster" notecards, oh they hold a dear spot close to my heart.  I think they would make some excellent art journalling material.  Hope you enjoy this month's loves.

And just like that, June is about finished.  Back in July with lots of posts about what we were up to when our family came to visit and much more.  Love you all!

Things I Love: May Edition

5.19.2013

Welcome to Things I Love the May Edition.  I hope you enjoy!

1. This mapnote from Maptote.  Dane and I have always loved the city of San Fransico and this little tag would be so fun to have!

2. Aren't these earrings by Lulu Frost for J.Crew just perfect.  I can picture them dangling from my ears now.

3. I must compliment Urban Outfitters on this light.  I would love to have one in my home someday.

4. There used to be a commercial on TV that talked about using your ticket stub collection to mark where you've been.  Ever since then I have been hanging on tight to my stubs.  They live in the red solo cup that Phil Vassar handed me from stage (the silly stuff we keep huh?)  Anyways, I think this journal would be such a clever way to show them off.

5. I have such a thing for gems in their natural state right now.

6. This is a picture from my current favorite instagram feed.  Kristin Rogers.  If you don't follow her, you must.  She inspires me daily.  I love how she shares her faith via pictures.  I love her kids.  I love her home and think ours will look similar someday (with all the instruments hanging from the walls).  I love her chicken Patty.  Just go check her out.

7. Bonlook's latest Bonnie & Clyde Macchiato glasses.  If they could only grind my prescription.

8. This owl mug.  It would match my dishes.  It makes me smile.  What more could a girl ask for?

9. I am really into light up metal signage right now.  If it reminds me of a carnival, I am probably going to love it.

10.  Fox Sox.  How cute are these?  And I am LOVING this green color right now.

There you have it.  All of the things I am loving this May.

XOXO, Christy

Things I Love: April Edition

4.12.2013

Christy here with 10 things I am loving this April, starting off with this amazing painted floor.  I have always been drawn to black and white checkered floors.  This room is simply stunning though!

Some lovely iphone cases for all of you iphone 5 folks, by Julia Kostreva.

I know these have been all over pinterest world lately, but all of you getting ready to go into spring, you should be gold leafing your pots right now as you prepare for the upcoming planting season.  Speaking of planting, dad I hope you have your first crop of sweet corn in!

Anthropologie, you are always spot on.  I could have put so many of your spring time blouses in this post, but of course I went with the lovely golden yellow choice.

First off, I am now totally obsessed with greek yogurt pancakes.  Dane and I have made them twice now and they are the best pancakes I have ever eaten!  Super simple to make, I recommend you try this recipe out this weekend!

And seriously, the most amazing picnic accessory ever, thank you Kate Spade.

I am loving these bobby pins which will be in the upcoming Kate Young for Target collection.  We won't see any of this collection in Australia, so if someone would like to pick a few of these up for me, I would LOVE it!

The owl picture is from Krystie Lee's instragram feed.  She has been visiting Malaysia and this picture has me wanting to do a face to face owl encounter like crazy!  Robin, I couldn't help but think of you when I saw this picture because the owl on her shoulder is the same type of owl we did a watercolor of during the holidays.  I just love his gnarly eyebrows.

And this gem necklace from Urban Outfitters.  I am really loving gem stones right now.  So pretty.
Rifle paper company, I reckon you create some of the most beautiful stationary on the planet.  Check out these amazing note cards.

There you have it.  Things I am loving this April.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend.  Dane and I have plans to possibly hit up the beach, church, and the markets.

Much love, Christy.

Things I Love: March

3.01.2013

Christy here today to share with you some of the things I am loving right now:

This gorgeous print by Ana Victoria Calderon available on etsy.

I love these sandals from Tory Burch and this skirt from Target, and I love them together as well.  I can just picture myself strolling through a farmer's market or down the boardwalk enjoying them.

This blog post on lighting by Elsie over at A Beautiful Mess is so me.  If you know me at all, you know how much I hate overhead lighting and I think the entire world should be educated on how to bring perfect mood lighting into every space.

I am a bit obsessed with my rose coloured tinted lip balm by Burt's Bees.  If you haven't tried this product out, you must.  The rose colour is such a soft subtle shade.  I think I should have bought a couple more tubes before moving back to Australia!

I would love for this owl pencil holder from Typo and this quilt from Urban Outfitters to become a part of my life very soon.

I have been a big fan of succulents for a while now.  My friend Jaz was so sweet and gifted me some starters out of her grandmother's garden after we moved here last year.  Now that mine are off and going I would love to try and propagate them, and just might, thanks to this tutorial.  Maybe soon I will have a whole garden full of the beauties.

When I saw this on Pinterest the other day I got very excited.  What a great way to take an old dumpy lumpy sweatshirt and make it into something fabulous!

And finally this.  John Mark McMillan is one of my favorite artists.  He is probably most famous for the song he wrote titled "How He Loves," but overall him and his band write some amazing songs.  I am so excited because they are coming out with a new album, and they want their fans to help by becoming the record company.  I could go into all the details, but you should just check out the website and the video.  It is quite lovely.

Those are some things I am loving for the month of March!  Hope you enjoyed!  Christy
